On April 17, 2021, during the Navy League of Canada National Annual General Meeting, LCdr Kevin Daeninck, of RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC, was awarded the National President's Award for his many years of dedication, service and volunteering as a CIC officer with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program.
The Manitoba Division of The Navy League of Canada announced the 2020 Division Royal Canadian Sea Cadet of the Year as CPO1 Andrew Puttenham and the 2020 Division Navy League Sea Cadet of the Year as PO1 Abigail Donaghy.
The Manitoba Division of The Navy League of Canada awarded the 2019 Division Royal Canadian Sea Cadet of the Year to CPO1 Bailey Farr and the 2019 Division Navy League Sea Cadet of the Year to CPO2 Spencer Pearce at their respective Annual Ceremonial Reviews in June 2019.
The 2018 Division Royal Canadian Sea Cadet of the Year, for the Manitoba Division of The Navy League of Canada, was awarded to CPO1 Riley Howells by MGen (Retd) Dennis Tabbernor, on the Manitoba Legislature grounds, during the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Centennial celebration on June 16, 2018.
At a formal ceremony on Saturday, September 16, 2017, the 2017 Hubbell Awards were presented to nine Manitoba cadets in the Manitoba Room of the Manitoba Legislative Buildings. These nine cadets, two Sea Cadets, two Army Cadets and five Air Cadets, were chosen from over 40 applicants. The two Sea Cadets receiving scholarships this year were CPO1 Rilley Howells and CPO2 Rheanne Millet, both members of RCSCC John Travers Cornwell VC.
Retired Captain (N) William H. Wilson, O.M.M., C.D., who is a past Manitoba sea cadet, officer and Navy League member, was recently honoured for a lifetime of commitment to the Royal Canadian Navy when a plaque in his honour was unveiled at the Naval Museum of Alberta, in Calgary (See the September 9, 2017 Facebook post by Commander Royal Canadian Navy.)
On Thursday, September 7, 2017, the Cornwell (Winnipeg) Branch and the JTCVC Alumni unveiled a permanent display for the Cornwell at his Gun print and formally presented it to the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps John Travers Cornwell VC. Making the presentation on behalf of the Branch was Branch President Don Bullee and on behalf of the JTCVC Alumni was Alumni Chair John Jamieson. Receiving the presentation on behalf of the Corps was the Corps Commanding Officer Lt(N) Kevin Daeninck and Corps Coxswain CPO1 Riley Howells.
Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps John Travers Cornwell VC held their Annual Ceremonial Review on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Reviewing Officer, LCdr. W.P. Stiff, inspected the Guard, Band and the four divisions of the Ship’s Company. LCdr. Stiff was accompanied by Corps Commanding Officer, Lt(N) K. Daeninck, Corps Coxswain, CPO1 R. Howells and Navy League of Canada Division President, B. Hawkeye and Branch President, L. Schenkeveld.
Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps John Travers Cornwell VC unveiled a new painting of their corps badge at Ceremonial Divisions on Thursday. The Alumni, represented by Larry Schenkeveld, Cornwell (Winnipeg) Branch President, and Andy Huhn, artist, formally presented the painting to the Corps. The commanding officer, Lt(N) Kevin Daeninck, and the coxswain, CPO1 Riley Howells, accepted the painting on behalf of the Corps.
