The Manitoba Division of The Navy League of Canada held their second annual Awards Dinner at the West Kildonan Legion on Saturday, October 26, 2019. At the dinner awards were handed out to Division members who had reached milestones in their years of service to The Navy League of Canada, including one new Life Membership. In addition to those amazing volunteers, one Distinguished Service Award, three Meritorious Service Awards and two Awards of Appreciation were handed out. Also, for the first time in a while, the Manitoba Division Branch Member of the Year, Manitoba Division CIC Officer of the Year and Manitoba Division Navy League Officer of the Year awards were handed out.

Life Associate Membership

In recognition of outstanding leadership and service of the highest order to The Navy League of Canada and the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet movement, one Manitoba Division members were awarded their Life Associate Membership.

Award of Appreciation

In recognition of outstanding support and assistance in realizing the League's objectives of producing good citizens through its youth movement and increasing the awareness of the need to protect Canada's sea resources and sovereignty through a strong maritime presence, two Manitoba Division members were recognized.

Mr. John Gunkel was recognized for his work as President of the Qu'Appelle Branch. Mr. Gene Manture was recognized for his work as Treasurer for the Cornwell Branch and for his assistance with all Division Treasurers, teaching classes and answering questions through the year.

Division Service Award

LCdr(NL) Andre Sheppard was awarded his Division Service Award, after he retired as a Navy League officer last year, at the Navy League Officers' Training Weekend, Saturday, October 26, 2019.
